I highly recommend watching this talk from Harvard professor Steven Pinker: Communicating Science and Technology in the 21st Century. Check it out if you are interested in scientific writing or just in being a little more clear communicating your ideas through words.

I particularly enjoyed his good-natured ribbing of Strunk and White’s Elements of Style and the quote from Winston Churchill at around 50:20.
